Nakul Prabhu from Mumbai wins the Bayer National Scrabble Championship 2018

Mumbai, May 27, 2018 – The Grand Finale of the Bayer National Scrabble Championship 2018 held in association with The Mumbai Scrabble Club and Scrabble Association of India, took place at The Regenza at Navi Mumbai. Scrabble lovers from across the country battled it out for the winning spot at this esteemed championship event.

Nakul Prabhu from Mumbai won the Bayer National Scrabble championship 2018 followed by Eeshan Malhotra from Bangalore and Mohan Chunkath from Chennai in the second and third place respectively.

In the words of Richard van der Merwe, Senior Bayer Representative, South Asia, “Scrabble is a fascinating game that helps your mind and enhances your brain. I am happy to see that this championship each time has a great turnout of scrabble enthusiasts from all over India and this unique sport is successful in bringing together children and professionals in the age group of 8 to 75 years.”

The proud winner of the Bayer National Scrabble Championship 2018 Nakul Prabhu said, “The championship was extremely well contested. It is like living a dream having won the national championship. I am eagerly looking forward to the upcoming tournaments including the World Championship to be held in Goa in 2019.”

The competition saw 24 rounds in all. The first half of the rounds was in the Australian Draw format and the second half in the King of the Hill format. The tournament was held in Mumbai from May 25 - May 27, 2018.
