Dr. Sara Boettiger

Dr. Sara Boettiger is a Non-Executive Non-Independent Director for Bayer CropScience Limited since August 12, 2021.

Dr. Boettiger is Senior Vice President, Head of Public Affairs, Science & Sustainability for the Crop Science division of Bayer. Prior to joining Bayer, Sara co-led the McKinsey Center for Agricultural Transformation. She has also served as: Deputy Director at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation; Chair of the Board of Trustees of the international ag research institute CIMMYT; Senior Advisor at Syngenta Foundation; faculty fellow at Harvard University’s Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society; advisor to the satellite company Planet Labs; co-founder of several non-profits; adjunct professor at UC Berkeley; and member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Councils. 

Sara has published in the fields of law, economics and innovation. She has a PhD in Agricultural and Resource Economics from the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Boettiger is passionate about our generational responsibility to work across public and private sectors to create a more sustainable global agri-food system for the future.

Dr. Sara Boettiger was appointed as an Additional Director with effect from February 12, 2021. She was appointed as a Non-Executive Independent Director with effect from August 12, 2021.
